- Who does Emmaus House serve?
We serve anyone in need—those experiencing homelessness, individuals struggling with food insecurity, and people facing financial hardships. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and a hot meal.
- How many meals does Emmaus House serve?
We serve thousands of meals each year. In 2024 we provided 37,767 hot meals.
- How is Emmaus House solving homelessness?
While we have a vested interest in making homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring, our primary mission is to provide vital resources for those who are currently experiencing homelessness. Through our meal program, hygiene services, and partnerships with other local organizations, we help meet immediate needs while connecting individuals to long-term solutions.
Getting Help
- Does Emmaus House provide financial support?
No, Emmaus House does not provide financial assistance. Our mission is to offer essential services such as meals, hygiene support, and resource connections. However, we partner with United Way’s 211 Emergency Support Program, which connects Coastal Georgia residents with vital resources, including emergency financial assistance, housing support, utility aid, and more. - What services does Emmaus House provide?
We offer:
- Hot, nutritious meals every weekday morning
- Hot showers and laundry services
- A Clothing Closet and hygiene products
- Assistance connecting to local resources, including housing and healthcare support
- Do I need an ID or proof of income to receive services?
No! Emmaus House is a no-barrier service agency, meaning no identification, proof of income, or residency is required to receive a meal, shower, clothing or laundry service.
- When are meals served?
Breakfast is served Monday through Friday at 8:30 AM, and sandwich bags are available until 1:00 PM
- How can I access shower and laundry services?
Shower and laundry services are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups begin early in the morning right before breakfast service.
- How does the clothing closet work?
Our clothing closet provides essential clothing items, including socks, underwear, shirts, pants, and seasonal outerwear, to those in need. Availability depends on donations, and distribution is on a first come- first served basis. Clothing Closet intake is every Wednesday at 10:00AM.

- Can I donate food or clothing?
Yes! We welcome donations of both perishable and non-perishable food, fresh produce, hygiene items, laundry supplies and new or gently used clothing, particularly men’s clothing. Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday before 1:00 PM and pick-up can be coordinated by contacting us directly via the Contact Us section on our website. - Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! Emmaus House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Volunteering
- How can I volunteer?
Volunteers are the heart of our work! We ask that all volunteers sign up ahead of time through our website to ensure we have enough support and can provide proper guidance.You can sign up to serve in the Soup Kitchen or our Clothing Closet. Visit our volunteer page to learn more and register.
- Can I bring a group to volunteer?
Yes! We welcome church groups, corporate teams, and community organizations. Please contact us in advance to coordinate your visit.
- Can I bring my kids with me to volunteer?
Yes, children are welcome to volunteer as long as they are accompanied by an adult. However, please keep in mind that Emmaus House is a no-barrier service agency, meaning we serve individuals from all walks of life, including those who may be actively using drugs or alcohol. We encourage parents and guardians to consider this before bringing children to serve and to ensure they feel comfortable in this environment.
